Scale information moving to the mapfiles?

SamHiatt
Hi all...

I think I read somewhere a while back that someone was planning on moving the scale configuration information to the mapfiles metadata?  Does anyone know anything about this?  It seems like a simple task, I might could do it.  Does everyone agree that the mapfile is a more appropriate place to put the scales array (ie: "'scales' => array( 1500000, 1000000, 750000, 500000, 250000);")?

Sam

Hi Sam,

I like the idea (it was probably me that proposed it).  If you are
going to do this, I'd like to see it work either way with the scales
array in config.php taking precedence over the map file.  Also, we
should probably take some care to sort the scales so that they are in
the right order (in case they are specified backwards in metadata for
instance)

Cheers

Paul

Re: Scale information moving to the mapfiles?

Great!  One of these days I'll try to try to implement it.  I'm not familiar with that area of ka-map, but I want to get familiar with it... I'll let you know when I start working on it.

First I need to write up a small ka-map customization tutorial for the wiki like I promised that I would do.

Thanks!

Sam

Sam, I like the idea too.
Paul is right, we need anyway to maintain backward compatibility.

ciao
Lorenzo
