Problem in ka-Map after server upgrade

Jaisen N.D.-2
Hi,

I have a ka-Map application which was developed at the time Debian Etch was active. It was working fine when I upgraded to Lenny. But when upgraded to Squeeze, it showed a type of graticule and, in each square some alpha-numerals in map window. But when I upgraded to Wheezy, ka-Map has stopped working. Nothing appears in map window. When I checked with firebug, it showed that the init.php returns 500 Internal Server Error. When I checked with error.log of Apache2 it shows as following:

------------------------
[Sun Sep 08 11:13:40 2013] [error] [client ::1] PHP Warning:  ms_newMapObj(): [MapServer Error]: loadSymbol(): Parsing error near (STYLE):(line 14)\n in /var/www/ka-map-1.0-20070205/htdocs/init.php on line 124, referer: http://localhost/ka-map-1.0-20070205/htdocs/

Can anybody tell me, what is this problem and how to fix it? Thanks in advance.

Re: Problem in ka-Map after server upgrade

Stephen Woodbridge
This is probably caused by the fact that mapserver has also been
upgraded and their are some changes to the mapfile that are required in
the newer versions of mapserver.

You need to looks that the mapserver upgrade release notes and mapfile
compatibility issues.

locate mapserv | grep -w mapserv
/path/to/mapserv -v

That will tell you what version of mapserver is installed. and then you
can look at upgrade issue for that version.

Also, you should seriously look at upgrading this application to
OpenLayers and mapcache for managing the tiles. kaMap is VERY obsolete
and is not supported anymore.

Hi Jaisen,

Did you checked if the php_mapscript's upgrade in Debian is OK?
Examples:
1) In a squeeze box
aptitude show php5-mapscript
Package: php5-mapscript
State: installed
Automatically installed: no
Version: 5.6.5-2+squeeze2
...

2) In a wheezy box
aptitude show php5-mapscript
Package: php5-mapscript
State: installed
Automatically installed: yes
Version: 6.0.1-3.2
...

good luck,

Humberto
